7. Sheamus Gets Soaked In Fake Urine
Line up the 12 June 2020 SmackDown to see an Irishman get soaked in fake pee.
That no-good schemer Sheamus arranged a doctor to be in the house, because he said he'd refuse to step into the ring with Jeff Hardy at Backlash if he was going to be “a junkie”. Humouring the heel, Jeff pee’d, then chucked the contents of the jar all over Sheamus. It was standard Vince McMahon toilet humour, which is something most fans hanging over from the 'Attitude Era' had seen more than enough of.
If McMahon ever writes his memoirs, then the title will surely be: 'What's funnier than bodily functions?!'. The old boss bloody loved a pee/poop/farting/burping angle. Here, fans tuning into the blue brand were supposed to fall off their chairs laughing as Sheamus realised he'd just been dowsed in some Hardy urine for his troubles.
Being fair to him, Sheamus sold the moment as best as anyone could reasonably be expected to. Meanwhile, Hardy casually signed on the dotted line to say he'd both taken his pee test and could thus wrestle on the next pay-per-view guilt free. Select extras in attendance chortled at the audacity of it all.
Again though, this was a bid to tie Jeff's real life issues in with a silly wrestling angle. Heels weren't wrong when they said Hardy had failed to show himself as reliable or trustworthy, and therein lies the problem with booking this sort of thing. The babyface in question looks foolish for refusing to acknowledge the truth about their behaviour.
