26 Times Wrestling Titles Have Been Disrespected
24. Hornswoggle Becomes The Cruiserweight Champion
Despite the division having some of the company's best performers available to it, the WWE often treated the Cruiserweight Championship with disdain.
The final nail in the coffin of the Cruiserweight Title was when Hornswoggle wound up winning the title during an Open Challenge at the 2007 Great American Bash, becoming the shortest, lightest and youngest champion in the belt's history.
'Swoggle came out victorious in an Open Challenge that featured Jamie Noble, Shannon Moore, Funaki, Jimmy Wang Yang and then-champion Chavo Guerrero; all of which were great cruiserweights in their own right.
After the belt being rarely defended, Vickie Guerrero would eventually retire the Cruiserweight Title 6 months later. In fairness, it was likely best for the belt at that point, with it almost being like the sad case of putting an old dog out of its misery.
