4 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (March 14)

1. We Don’t Want To Know You

Edge, the biggest nerd around

Oh, this writer tried hard to like the new Edge persona Monday night. Blue Edge last week was such a shock to the system, maybe a second go-round would work better…

Nope.

Changing your theme music (which was a clever move to another Alter Bridge song called “The Other Side”), having some weird lighting, wearing a black suit and using several SAT words doesn’t make you a better character. Edge called the fans “simple” and declared he’s better than everyone (hmmm… what other heel wears suits and says he’s better than everyone?).

There was a decent moment with Edge lamenting how the “old Edge” was weak and would have lost to AJ Styles at WrestleMania. This started to crest toward a great point about letting out a dark side to beat AJ, but then he slid down to talking about the “mountain of omnipotence” and how he’s looking down on everyone, he won’t be judged, but he’ll judge Styles.

And just like that, this whole gimmick landed in the waste bin. Sorry, no buys.
