4 Ups And 1 Down From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Dec 13)

Ups...

Ambrose Miz

Smackdown opened up with an episode of MizTV, with special guest AJ Styles. Both men started out making fun of James Ellsworth (who, in storyline, was too sick to compete in his scheduled title match against Styles), but then started complimenting one another. Styles called Miz funny, while Miz complimented Styles's hair.

Soon, though, things soured. Miz claimed that he had brought his title from obscurity to legendary status, and that he had an easy time beating Dean Ambrose, making him superior to Styles. The two almost squared off, but Ambrose came down to the ring. He was followed by Dolph Ziggler, and a brawl ensued. Styles stayed out of it, but Luke Harper then appeared in the ring, and he was the last man standing.

It was interesting to see all the cards put on the table, so to speak, for a title match, and the interplay between Miz and Styles was good. Still, it's a bit telling that the top two heels on the show are the only wrestlers with any momentum, and it showed here. It was a good segment, but indicative of problems.
