4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (May 28)

1. King Barrett Keeps Losing

Poor King Barrett. They trot him out there with a ridiculous King of the Ring outfit, they never let him do a regular promo anymore and when he does get to talk he brags about how great he is even though he is booked like such a loser week after week. During his match this week, Barrett lost in about three minutes to R-Truth, who is in the "how is he getting a IC Title match?" role in the Elimination Chamber on Sunday. Barrett was on offense for nearly the entire match and then Truth hit the Lie Detector finisher out of nowhere for the win. This could be the kind of backwards booking that leads to Barrett actually winning on Sunday because sometimes they book people to lose so often on TV that they end up winning at a major event. It doesn't seem that likely, though. Winning King of the Ring was supposed to get Barrett to another level and closer to the main event. Instead, he seems to have fallen while the king of the ring crown is nothing more than a curse and something that Barrett shouldn't be proud of. After the match, Sheamus nailed both guys with Brogue Kicks to end the segment. It hasn't been a great build to the IC Title match on Sunday, but at least Sheamus looks like he's on a bit of a roll going into it.
