4 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE NXT 2.0 (Dec 21)

Too much Naughty, not enough Nice on this week's anything but Phenomenal WWE NXT 2.0.

AJ Styles NXT

WWEAs the holiday season picks up full steam heading into Christmas weekend, NXT 2.0 decided to go all festive with a show that most definitely was not trying to rip off AEW's Holiday Bash aesthetic in the slightest. Honest.

Away from the odd Santa Clause cosplay and jarring dose of mistletoe, however, this was still your usual dose of calamity with a side of odd delight. Though your writer would've personally preferred milk, cookies... or a raw carrot in some cases. Bitter enemies finally appeared to sign off a long-running rivalry in savage fashion. Yet, this sort of all-out carnage was soon undone by a less inspiring influx of "turmoil", proving that it is still possible to make out of control violence dull.

The major story heading into this week, outside of what Christmas jumpers would Wade Barrett and Vic Joseph be donning, was undoubtedly the shock arrival of one AJ Styles. Grayson Waller has been talking a big game about the one-time WWE Champion and fans were bracing themselves for a Phenomenal collision. But the fact this likely sits as the most exciting event to grace the show since its revamp is yet another indictment on this increasingly unsatisfying 2.0 era.

But tis the season to be jolly and all that, and there were some things worth singing about as New Year's Evil slides into view. Before we get there, though, let's get that Naughty list out of the way...
