4 Ups And Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Feb 19)
2. Bad News Barrett Is A Typical Loser Champion
Bad News Barrett lost to R-Truth in a three minute match without his Intercontinental Title on the line. Dean Ambrose was on commentary to take the focus away from BNB. The story of the match was that Barrett wanted Ambrose to keep an eye on the mach. When Ambrose decided to turn his back to Barrett, suddenly R-Truth applied the dreaded ROLLUP OF DEATH and that was apparently enough to pin this guy that we're supposed to think is a great champion. Why would Ambrose not looking at him distract a 10+ year veteran like Barrett? It's so stupid. Not to mention the rollup finish is stupid. Barrett has been booked poorly as the IC Champion while WWE continues to rely on their stupid theory that champions losing non-title matches somehow helps the title seem more important. All it really does is make people not care when the champ loses the title because they're used to seeing him lose so much already. Speaking of Barrett, what happened to the "Bad News Zone" (BNZ) thing he was doing? Apparently that got dropped already or they had nothing for him to talk about the last couple of weeks. The bad news for Barrett is that he's IC Champ again and since WWE doesn't know to how to book that title properly anymore, it's bad for anybody that holds it.
