19. The Bloodline’s First Run (WWE, 2020-2023)

Understandably, WWE views The Bloodline saga as a failsafe method they can always come back to. Why? Well, the group's original run following a memorable Roman Reigns reinvention as the 'Tribal Chief' in 2020 right up until 2023 (3 years of content!) kept the product ticking along nicely. People just couldn't get them enough of dem Bloodline boys and their twisting, weaving, family-based lore.

Sami Zayn, who was only supposed to work a few skits with Reigns and crew, turned into an "Honorary Uce". That spoke to the chemistry he shared with guys like Roman and The Usos. Fans craved more of it, and WWE seemed delighted to ride the crest of that wave as long as they could.

Reigns was a despotic tyrant flexing his power muscles over a weary Jey Uso, then he turned his attention to the increasingly-abused Zayn. The Bloodline kicking lumps out of Kevin Owens at the 2023 Royal Rumble proved to be a tipping point for Sami's inclusion - he managed to spin out of the faction and become a standalone babyface fighting against Roman's tyranny after that.

Today, The Bloodline's rehash could be considered unconvincing, but there was nothing questionable about that initial 3 year stretch. Everything, from Reigns vs. Jey in 2020 to Zayn's entire narrative and eventual rivalry opposite his ex-leader, went down a treat with the audience.

Affectionately, folks referred to Bloodline biz as "cinema". The hype was merited, because everyone involved showcased some of the finest drama WWE had to offer. It's nWo saturated nowadays, but The Bloodline between 2020-2023 was simply superb.
