5 Best Options To Dethrone Shinsuke Nakamura As NXT Champion

1. Samoa Joe

I still say this feature shouldn't even exist and that Samoa Joe should have handed Shinsuke Nakamura his first defeat back at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. Sometimes, the simplest storytelling is the best, and by having Joe manage to escape Brooklyn with the title would have made the most sense to continue this story and build to Nak's eventual title win.

As it is, we have a Nakamura that looks practically unbeatable and a Joe that has now lost a worrying amount of TakeOver matches. The overriding sense is that Nakamura isn't long for the NXT world, and by dropping the title back to Joe you set the stage for a simple yet effective end game in their feud.

Samoa Joe vs. Shinsuke Nakamura III - Loser Leaves NXT. The developmental brand has done a good job of making gimmick matches feel special to this point, and Joe/Nakamura is the sort of feud that needs to have a special ending. Joe defeats Nakamura one more time, and Shinsuke goes up to the main roster to knee people in the head and make the Intercontinental Championship the most important belt in the company. Simple.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
