5 Ups And 2 Downs From WWE NXT (Sep 8)
2. Growing Dains
Every time Killian Dain is on TV I sit and watch and sigh and recall fondly just want an insane killer he looked on the UK scene back in what's known as 'The Day'. I was there that night in Manchester, where he had his last indie match before setting off for the US. I was backstage when everyone was telling him how much he'd earned it and how amazing he was going to be in WWE.
But I've also been right here every single week on NXT when he's either been comically miscast as a loser, thrown into half-baked feuds he's always destined to lose, and, worst of all, given partly exhibition matches against wrestlers he has nearly no chemistry with. Next month marks his 4 year anniversary in WWE, and I can think of few bigger talents who've been as relentlessly squandered.
But this week, something was different.
While he was cast as a loser this time it wasn't comical, this blossoming relationship with Drake Maverick actually feels like a storyline that has legs, and the chemistry he displayed with Roderick Strong was a timely reminder of just how good he actually is.
At some point we're going to actually work out what's going on with the Undisputed Era, but this was Dain's segment and it hopefully signifies a lot more to come.
