5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Sept 24)

4. Kevin Owens Walking Out On Rusev Is Heel 101

Traditionally in WWE, the heels get on with the heels and the babyfaces act like pals with other good guys. Kevin Owens doesn't - and shouldn't - fit into that mindset. Owens is a dirt bag kind of character, and it suits him down to the ground. The way this trait was handled on Smackdown seemed perfect, and it's exactly how the reigning Intercontinental Champion should be booked. Teaming with Rusev to face Dilph Ziggler and Ryback, Owens abandoned his partner during the match. This led to the 'Bulgarian Brute' acting as easy pickings for his opponents. In storyline, Owens did Rusev no favours, but why should he? This wasn't a title match, and 'KO' now has a belt over his shoulder. For him, this was an unnecessary fight. Better yet, the scenario opens up the Intercontinental Title hunt a little. If WWE choose to, they could have Rusev call out Kevin Owens, furious over what happened. This not only tells fans that Owens isn't liked by babyfaces, he's also just hated in general. Aside from his obvious in-ring skills, there should be no redeeming qualities to Kevin's personality.
