47. Introduced The 24/7 Title As A Hardcore Knock Off (2019)

Even beloved icon Mick Foley looked like he knew the 24/7 Title was a bad idea when he introduced the wretched-looking thing on the 20 May 2019 Raw. This was a case of WWE creatively clutching at straws and trying to reclaim lost glories. It was almost like they were Steve Buscemi with skateboard in hand and backwards cap saying, 'How do you do, fellow kids?'.

Nobody was fooled into thinking this would be a patch on the classic Hardcore Title of old. That had become a firm favourite right at the tail end of the 90s and into the early 00s. Mick's own Mankind character ushered the broken and battered Hardcore belt in, then even more comedic workers like Crash Holly took it skyward with the often-hilarious 24/7 rule.

That's what the 24/7 Title was based on, obviously, but the joke wore thin almost instantly. Titus O'Neil seemed to win the thing by literally picking it up off the floor (which made the title look worthless), then Bobby Roode surprised him with a roll up from behind. Cue mayhem and cue R-Truth trying desperately to make the best of a bad situation by replicating Holly's work in 2000.

Groans were audible when Foley revealed the strap's look as well. It was part garish watch and part biscuit tin lid. Apparently, somebody had asked to "make the title aesthetically pleasing", then accidentally replaced two keywords with "bloody ugly" before hitting send.

Mercifully, Triple H deleted the title from existence in November 2022. It must never return. Burn it.
