It should be written into promotional law that karaoke is henceforth banned from broadcasts. There was a dire segment involving the women's division on an episode of SmackDown mid-pandemic that saw everyone from Naomi to Lacey Evans sing iconic entrance themes. That was bad enough, but at least it happened during an era when WWE scrambled to fill TV time with anything they could think of in front of the ThunderDome screens.

Clash At The Castle 2022's conclusion doesn't have that excuse.

There, after losing to Roman Reigns in a heated main event, one Drew McIntyre drowned his sorrows with boxer Tyson Fury via the medium of music. Their singalong completely baffled fans in attendance at the Welsh stadium show, largely because it felt totally out of place. How did McIntyre go from failing to beat Roman's 'Tribal Chief' brag to crooning Don McLean's 'American Pie' and the Oasis hit 'Don't Look Back In Anger'?!

This was the kind of thing punters expected to see when walking past a pub shortly before closing time on a Friday or Saturday night. You know the feeling; woeful singing starts spilling out of the bar's front doors as fellow patrons with earache try to escape and head home to safety.

Unfortunately, despite the good intentions, this made a mockery of Drew's heroic push to end The Bloodline and was highly unnecessary. Instead of being fired up about Solo Sikoa's debut and interruption in his title tilt, McIntyre was content to pal around with Fury singing a few verses as knackered fans filed out of the venue.

It was a frankly rubbish end to the night.
