6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (June 26)

1. That Main Event

Kenny Omega Jungle Boy

Forget the crummy Matt Hardy and Christian Cage ending for a second, because that main event merits serious praise.

Kenny Omega ditched the lame comedy that has become his life and got serious for this AEW World Title match. That, in effect, made Jungle Boy seem like more of a credible challenger than he would've been had Omega decided to goof around with Don Callis and take him lightly.

JB seized his main event chance by matching Omega all the way (no mean feat), and he came across as someone who will inevitably be AEW Champ himself someday. That, if AEW are being honest with themselves, was more than they could've expected from this short Double Or Nothing-Saturday Dynamite build over the past month or so.

It's heartening to know that this is only the beginning of Boy's journey towards superstardom. Hopefully, this headliner also acts as a lesson to Tony Khan that Omega is waaaaay more effective when he isn't acting like some jokey fool or playing up to nerd culture in backstage skits.
