6 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jul 28)

3. Shock Placement Delivers

We're now two weeks removed from Slammiversary, and for the second week in a row, Impact Wrestling kicked off with a championship contest as Trey Miguel challenged Eddie Edwards for the World Championship. As expected, the match was a perfect way to begin the show.

Undoubtedly, both men are two of Impact's greatest performers, as they've proven time and time again. Their participation in the Slammiversary main event, in particular, showed this to a tee. Here, Miguel was visibly showing a different side to himself as he insisted on utilising some manoeuvres we don't often see from the Rascalz member. A rebound cutter off the bottom rope was perhaps his greatest weapon on show.

The Boston Knee Party secured a successful first title defence for Eddie as his mission to be a fighting champion is off to an excellent start. There wasn't much background to this one aside from the fact that both men were part of Slammiversary's five way match, however, it's a prime example that not every match needs to have a tantalising story, so long as it's an impeccable bout.

A brief appearance from Eric Young after the bell continued the brewing story between 'The World Class Maniac' and the World Champion, with Young refraining from entering the ring. Eddie's already set for a championship defence on next week's episode against an unnamed challenger. It seems too soon to be seeing Eddie vs. Eric, but it's certainly a possibility.
