6 Ups & 4 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (5 August)

Ups...

6. Elite, By Design?

A standard backstage Elite promo saw Kenny Omega run down IMPACT's decision to decide his Emergence challenger via Battle Royal, claiming that Scott D'Amore is looking for literally anyone to be the company's white knight. Omega stated that, in the past, D'Amore at least had a selection process, having the likes of Moose and Sami Callihan challenge 'The Best Bout Machine' previously.

Cue Violent By Design, with Eric Young claiming that VBD will be invoking their rematch clause at Emergence (which goes down on Friday, 20 August, rather than 21 August as previously noted). The interaction between the two sides was the definition of short and sweet; you were left wanting more. A six-man tag team match would be ideal had this been the Eric Young of late-2020.

Rich Swann and Willie Mack will also be added to that Emergence title clash, which perhaps shouldn't have been the case. There's no need for them to be in there again. Nonetheless, this angle to set the match up was great. Don Callis deeming Young "shoot crazy", followed by Doc Gallows and Kenny Omega reminiscing about the former's days as Festus was a corker of a time, too.
