6 Ups And 3 Downs From WWE NXT 2.0 (Oct 5)

5. Knight Overcomes An Odyssey Thanks To Chase

It's been a rough couple of weeks for the one-time Million Dollar Champion. After having his ass handed to him twice on the debuting episode of NXT 2.0, the star has struggled to gather anything resembling momentum and has quickly found himself lost in the multi-coloured shuffle.

A mini-feud with Odyssey Jones looked like a way back to relevancy for the former Eli Drake and, in all honesty, their eventual battle last night was pretty enjoyable, all things considered. Again, it wasn't exactly given the time to be anything more than a bite-sized chunk of what both men can bring to the dance, but Knight exuded sliminess in pummelling and fleeing from the mighty Jones. Whereas the babyface juggernaut had the crowd in the palm of his hand every time he fired up and began launching the heelish Knight from pillar to post.

All signs pointed to a Jones victory. That was, until the Breakout MVP's real rival Andre Chase made his presence known on the apron before eventually costing Jones the match via moving his leg off the rope mid-pin.

Just like that, Knight is given a hollow heel win, the nefarious Chase stays at the forefront of people's minds, and the lovable Jones is given an easy out despite losing here. Sure, you can't continue to pull this crap each and every week, but as a one-off way of segwaying into Chase vs. Jones, it did the trick.
