6 Ups And 3 Downs From WWE NXT 2.0 (Oct 5)
Ups...
6. Mandy Rose Attracts A Victory
Last week felt like the unofficial coming out party for Mandy Rose and the rest of her Toxic Attraction gang as Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne battled over the women's tag titles and the team's leader made a statement by going after the NXT Women's Champion.
But while it looks like a clash with Raquel Gonzalez down the road is pretty much inevitable at this moment in time, there's still the small matter of building up the recently returning former main roster star into a bona fide championship-level threat before then. Having her go toe-to-toe with one of the division's strongest performers last night wasn't a bad way to go about it.
In this short but sweet showcase, Rose once again demonstrated a new-found aggression which was complimented well by Toxic Attraction's presence at ringside. The two sidekicks didn't directly influence the finish, but still felt like an element to be wary of all the same. Moon also proved why there's so much more she could be currently doing on this revamped developmental show, with her supposed "going back to the drawing board" promo a few weeks ago clearly not leading to the new character direction or any shift at all in the shows since.
Rose came away with the 'W' thanks to another sweetly timed jumping knee, making a genuine statement of intent in the process. Judging from this and Rose, Dolin, and Jayne's interaction with Raquel, and Io Shirai & Zoey Stark later in the night, surely it's only a matter of time before Toxic Attraction glistens in gold.
But saying that, it also appears Indi Hartwell and Persia still have unfinished business with the NXT Women's Tag Team Champions, with Hartwell wanting to reclaim the gold she lost alongside her The Way famalam. Things are hotting up in the women's ranks, and don't be too surprised to see a few belts change hands in the coming weeks.
