7 Reasons Nobody Has Really Missed John Cena

3. No More Mixed Tag Matches

Both John Cena and wife-to-be Nikki Bella announced they were taking some time off from WWE shortly after WrestleMania 33. On that show, the loving couple beat The Miz and Maryse in a mixed tag-team match put together only so that John could propose to his then-girlfriend afterwards.

Had Cena stuck around and not agreed to film American Grit, then Nikki may have stayed on herself. You know what that means, right? It means we could have seen more mixed tag heroism from the lovebirds. WWE seemed to be putting feelers out for this before 'Mania by having the pair beat Carmella and James Ellsworth.

It's a good thing fans didn't have to sit through more predictable tags like that one, because a Bella/Cena vs. Carmella/Ellsworth feud wouldn't have prepared Carmella for her 'Miss. Money In The Bank' character, nor would it have had the same impact as the rivalry with Miz and Maryse.

The 'Nikki loves wrestling with John' idea WWE adore isn't quite as cute as they think, so it's a positive it disappeared quickly.
