6. WWE Doesn't Know If They Can Trust Him

WWE.comTrust is a big thing in wrestling. On the Wednesday edition of Wrestling Observer radio at
F4WOnline.com, Dave Meltzer talked about how Vince McMahon was worried that Angle might die while he was in WWE towards the end of his run there. Eddie Guerrero died in late 2005 and in early 2006 Angle was running hard. He was drinking, he was doing drugs (painkillers were a big problem) and people were really worried about his health. As Meltzer re-iterated many times, McMahon was adamant that he wouldn't have an Olympic gold medallist die while he was in WWE. He could not do it anymore. Because of that reason more than any other, McMahon let Angle go. Even though Angle has cleaned up his life since he mentioned on JR's podcast that he's been sober for about a year, there has to be a feeling within WWE that he could slip up again. They don't know if they can put him on the road for three months, give him a feud and know that he can handle it because there's a chance that maybe he slips up again. Then what? You just don't know. That lack of trust could still be there and it could prevent any chance Angle has of coming back to WWE.
