7 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Jan 25)

4. The Worst Kind Of Heels

The evil authority figure gimmick needs to die a quick and painful death. There€™s just no sugarcoating it. Vince McMahon played the role perfectly in the late 90s and early 2000s, and while it looked like he was going to resurrect that character now, it€™s clear that it€™s just a different time, and it€™s not working with he and Stephanie McMahon as the evil duo. First off, Steph dancing and singing along to Mr. McMahon€™s entrance music is not heelish, it€™s just silly and annoying. It doesn€™t make fans go €œboo,€ it makes them groan. Vince telling the crowd to €œshut up!€ and then going on a senile rant about tucking tails and whimpering is more pathetic than anything else. It makes you want to help Vince find his slippers and shuffle him off to bed, not fear him as the evil mastermind. Their entire act is like a bad 1998 retread without €œStone Cold€ Steve Austin to play against. It just doesn€™t work, and yet it€™s the only bullet in the chamber that they€™ve got.
