7 Wrestlers WWE Called Up In The WORST Way Possible
5. EC3
If Odyssey Jones didn't ever harness the star appeal to trouble WWE's biggest names, then EC3 was the polar opposite of this theory. On paper, Ethan Carter III had everything Vince McMahon could wish for in a WWE talent: Movie star looks, endless charisma, a ripped physique and very Vince-friendly mic skills.
He was so made for the main roster that NXT didn't ever really feel like a good fit for the guy. NXT was built on incredible matches and most of the brand's biggest success stories had been indie darlings before making their name on the black and gold brand. EC3 had been a main event player in TNA, and felt more like a "sports entertainer" than he ever did a pro wrestler.
Which is why his major flop when called up to WWE's main roster in 2018 is all the more mystifying.
EC3 was stripped of all of his true assets, and he was given a mute gimmick that prevented him from using his mic skills (why?!). As such, his stature on the main roster and reputation with fans started sinking dramatically on a weekly basis. Frustrated and miserable behind the scenes, EC3 was let go by the company less than a year later.
