7 WWE Dream Matches That Happened Years Apart

1. Seth Rollins Vs. Dean Ambrose Vs. Roman Reigns

So there may not be as many years between this and the other matches on this list, but it may as well be a lifetime ago for the three men involved. Ever since they attacked Ryback at Survivor Series later in this same year, everyone has been clamouring for a triple threat match between the three members of The Shield.

At the upcoming Battleground pay-per-view, that dream will become a reality.

Earlier in 2012 however, the three men faced off in a triple threat in FCW to decide the #1 Contender to Leo Kruger's FCW Florida Heavyweight Championship. Their roles were oh so different though; Dean Ambrose was a snarling heel, Seth Rollins an emo-metal babyface and Roman Reigns wasn't even Roman Reigns. The Guy was still known as Leakee.

All three wore black tights, and all three were struggling to find a true character ready for the main roster. Rollins and Ambrose teamed up to neutralise the dominant Leakee, something that is practically unthinkable at Battleground. The match itself strangely centres on the story between Ambrose and William Regal of all people, but there are a few things that are of great interest today.

The main thing to take away is just how far Leakee/Reigns has come in the last four years. Sure, he isn't Eddie Guerrero in 2016, but in 2012 Reigns was all athleticism and nothing else. He did manage to win the pre-Shield triple threat however, pinning Ambrose after a weird spinning bulldog called the 'Checkmate'.

I guarantee a bulldog won't be the finish to the next WWE dream match we experience.
