5. Chris Weidman And Stephen Thompson
Being the only bromance on this list that has since evolved into the two fighters involved actually becoming technically related through marriage makes Chris Weidman and Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson's friendship definitely worthy of inclusion. This came after Thompson's younger brother married Weidman's sister.
Weidman and Thompson both appeared on the historic UFC 205 card at Madison Square Garden but came up in losing efforts to Yoel Romero and Tyron Woodley respectively. Chris' wife Marivi shared a photo of Weidman and Thompson embracing following their defeats at the event, showing just how much emotion goes into competing at the highest levels of a sport where the consequences of failure can be so severe:
Thompson explained before the event that the reason the pair hadn't fought on a card together before (and likely since) is because of how difficult it is for the family to go through the stress of one of them competing, much less two:
"No, we've not fought on the same card before and I know for a fact that my family and his family would just hate it. I think they would be just nervous for both of us. They would be a wreck."
