5. The Rhodes Family Shares A Beautiful Moment
Ha! I bet you thought all of these would be funny and/or negative moments! Well, I defy your expectations.
In 2013, Dusty Rhodes was influencing a new generation in NXT while his sons Dustin and Cody were on the main roster. As part of the Authority storyline, both Cody and Goldust raised objections to Triple H and Stephanie’s tyranny. They were fired for their disobedience, and eventually, their father Dusty got involved. A match was set at Battleground: the Rhodes brothers vs. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. If Cody and Goldust won, they got their jobs back, and if The Shield won, they’d stay fired, and Dusty would lose his job at NXT.
The Shield and Rhodes brothers would go on to have a whopper tag match. It’s the most over Cody or Goldust ever were as babyfaces, and Dusty received an ovation for his entrance and for getting physical with Dean Ambrose, whipping him with his belt, to help his sons. Cody won via Cross Rhodes, and the father and sons would embrace in the ring together. It’s a genuinely touching moment, and one that everyone is glad the Rhodes family shared before Dusty’s passing.
