The end of the road is nigh.

John Cena has less than a handful of dates left (4, to be exact) on his retirement tour, and the legend certainly has only a couple of matches at most to call his own remaining until he hangs up his WWE hat seemingly for good. If Crown Jewel was anything to go by, then it’s going to get emotional. Reality is starting to kick in for John and fans that time is running out.

Wade Barrett called the match vs. AJ Styles “an ode to professional wrestling”. Both icons stuffed in so many tributes to various different workers who left imprints on their respective careers. There were even nods to Christopher Daniels in there! The Miz, Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels, Samoa Joe and others were all mentioned or referenced by the announcers throughout the match.

Now, Cena has just 2 months left of career time before he departs. His heel run was crap and should never have happened without a proper plan, but this AJ bout will be a highlight for sure. It was so much fun, so it'll be remembered. Y'know what else will be remembered? Big, bad Gunther sprinting back in from the cold to end another legendary career in the same year.

He's already stuck a fork in Bill Goldberg's legacy by ending him on a recent Saturday Night's Main Event in July, and it looks like 'Super Cena' is next for the Austrian wrestling machine. This is the home straight for John. He could win the IC belt from Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series then drop it to Gunther come SNME on 13 December.

That'd be some way for him to bow out.
