8 Things We Learned From AJ Styles, Kevin Nash, & Shawn Michaels On Table For 3
2. Writing The Perfect Ending To The Story Of His Career
Styles saw Shawn’s point and understood why he’d want to go out on top after having one of the greatest series of matches of all-time with The Undertaker, culminating in his final performance at WrestleMania XXVI.
HBK identified himself as "the artsy-fartsy guy" and prefers to look at his career as an entire piece of work rather than individual segments, and everything about the way his career began and ended was the ideal narrative. The tale came full circle, beginning with a captivating heartbreak (turning on Marty Jannetty) and climaxed with the defiant, soul-shattering loss in one of the greatest matches ever .
HBK called it a perfect story, and he feels that coming back to wrestle beyond that would seem like a program that would exist independently from that body of work that he’s extremely proud of - a sequel that doesn’t have anything to do with the rest of the movie.
He doesn't want that.
As fans, we selfishly want to see Shawn Michaels put the boots on and entertain us again, but when he lays out his reasoning in such a manner it's easy to understand and sympathize with why he's unwilling to do so.
