Nobody expects the undercard to be paid as much attention as the main event scene - that's just the way of the world. But the lack of effort put into many feuds and storylines is one of the most noticeable differences between the modern incarnation of Raw and the show in its glory days. The Attitude Era delivered a few stinkers, of course, but at least everyone on the roster seemed to be going somewhere. Nowadays Raw actually airs very little storyline progression (main event stuff aside). How many weeks have Ziggler and Rusev been feuding now, without really going anywhere? The same could be said of Neville and Stardust, or the entire tag team division. Sure, the Dudley Boyz and New Day may be two of the most exciting things on Raw these days, but their feud consists of little more than trading wins and cutting the same promos on one another. The solution here is more thorough, imaginative writing. Book dramatic feuds, book wacky ones; blend feuds together and plan shocking swerves months in advance. It seems as though the big storylines are reserved (or recycled) for the main event scene only, leaving the rest of the show spinning its wheels.
