8 Times AEW Legitimately Changed The World

7. The Hollywood Ending

One of the most enjoyable things about AEW as an alternative to WWE is that it has no problem with getting its hands dirty. From rowdy 'Anarchy In The Arena' matches to Hangman burning down Swerve's house, Tony Khan isn't remotely afraid to up the adult content and make pro wrestling violent again.

There's perhaps no better marriage of incredible storytelling and no-holds-barred brutality than 'The Hollywood Ending' match between 'Timeless' Toni Storm and Mariah May at AEW Revolution 2025. After a long-running story that included friendship, betrayal, memory loss and retribution, Toni and her former protege tore the house down at Los Angeles's Crypto.com Arena in the bloody finale to one of AEW's best-ever stories.

Incorporating a taser gun, broken glass being used for a 'Taipei Death Match' segment, and a thunderous final piledriver through the table, 'Timeless' recaptured the AEW Women's World Championship and promised to sentence May to "a lifetime of mediocrity". It was a magnificent match in its own right and the coronation of AEW's women's division fully cementing itself as the place to be.
