Reigns once thought the best way to get himself over with the WWE Universe was to not only disregard their chants but also insult their favorites and his former stablemates in the process.
During an appearance on The Jake Podcast, Reigns addressed the fans who booed him nightly, stating, “Even when I was with The Shield, I’ve always had the critics, and I think a lot of it goes with the background of me not having that independent experience, especially being paired up with guys like Seth and Dean, because those guys are journeymen.”
Although he might have thought he was talking up his cohorts, the term ‘journeymen’ did come with negative connotations, which critics were quick to pick up on. He double-downed by dismissing Daniel Bryan’s success, claiming it had nothing to do with his failure, and that fans hated him because he wasn’t an Indie guy.
