The name Odyssey Jones has been doing the rounds a fair bit over the last few weeks, with the star reportedly participating in a few dark matches on the main roster as WWE look to bolster their stale Raw and SmackDown rosters. Judging from his performance last night in the NXT Breakout Tournament, he's by no means the finished product, but it's not hard to see why the boss is considering him for an immediate call-up.
Jones is a bona fide powerhouse and, taking nothing away from his opponent on the night in Andre Chase, felt like someone the company would likely get behind going forward. Chase definitely got in his licks, though, connecting with a sweet moonsault and tactically cutting down the bigger man on the outside after an unfortunately botched catch from Jones post-Chase dive.
In the end, there was only ever going to be one winner here. Jones eventually found his footing and squashed the well-travelled performer with a number of splashes and what appeared to be an altered Rock Bottom finisher for the win.
Again, Jones still has some way to go before he realises his potential, but there's definitely something there with the former college football player and a big future could very well be on the horizon.
