8 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling Victory Road 2020
6. The Band Is Back Together
Last Tuesday, Heath was given the chance to prove he deserves an Impact roster spot when Scott D'Amore allowed him to team with Rhino against Reno Scum at Victory Road. This coming Tuesday, however, 'The Hottest Free Agent' may no longer be a moniker Heath can use, as D'Amore was visibly impressed with what he saw from the former multi-time Tag Team Champion here.
Despite it being announced as a non-sanctioned match, all rules were still enforced, but this took nothing away from the bout. A bit of an awkward beginning section of the match in that Heath and Rhino dominated the ring for a large period of time, before Adam Thornstowe and Luster The Legend gained the advantage. It's worth pointing out that Thornstowe is an underrated athletic wrestler, utilising a marvellous dropkick, standing moonsault, and suicide dive within this bout.
A Gore wiped out Luster, while a Wake Up Call from Heath was enough to earn the inaugural SmackDown Tag Team Champions their first win as a team since a February 2019 live event in Alabama. It wasn't an overly special match, however, it marked the most important aspect of Heath's Impact career thus far. If Victory Road were a video game, this would be the save checkpoint section. Fair play to Heath for getting this far through his own determination.
