8 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Dec 15)
3. Main Event Machine Gun
It was touched upon earlier, but this new version of Karl Anderson is fantastic to watch. Should he and Doc Gallows ever go their separate ways, 'The Machine Gun' will be fine as far as a singles career goes. His main event with Chris Sabin was superb, with the Good Brother opting to keep Sabin grounded wherever he could. With that said though, the match was still quite hectic in its own way.
With Alex Shelley watching on from ringside, and Kenny Omega and Don Callis doing the same from their bus outside the venue, Anderson and Sabin worked an expertly-produced pro wrestling match that saw decent sequence after decent sequence. A neat Helluva Kick was only matched with a picture-perfect spinebuster that only an Anderson could perform. Spurred on by the recent pep talks from 'The Cleaner', Anderson sank to nefarious means in order to defeat Sabin here, rolling him up with a grasp of his tights for the three count. That scoundrel!
'The Machine Gun' was confronted by Rich Swann post-match, which we'll get on to in a bit, but this match could not have been better. Ending things with a cheap win helps The Good Brothers get one over on their supposed next challengers, while also keeping The Motor City Machine Guns in title contention. Even if the match did have a clean finish, it would take nothing away from what the two produced here. A perfect choice for the main event of the last proper Impact show of 2020.
