8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Nov 28)

4. Running Through The Tag Division

On one hand, it’s a nice touch to see Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon refusing to make it easy for New Day to eclipse Demolition’s longevity record for a tag team championship in WWE.

But the weekly title defenses also means New Day is running through the tag division in record time. The champs beat Cesaro and Sheamus through nefarious means last week, and they toppled Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson (despite being outmatched most of the bout) with a rollup with a handful of tights. While that was a cheap win, it seems that the New Day is running out of steam, not just figuratively as champs, but physically in ways to retain the titles.

At the same time, they’re also running out of opponents to face. Who’s left in the division? Enzo Amore & Big Cass? Golden Truth? The Shining Stars? A Prime Time Players reunion? We’re starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel here, unless Cesaro and Sheamus are getting a second chance.

It just really feels like New Day is holding on (in the writers’ minds) to break Demolition’s record, and then that’s it. There’s no steam behind them other than to break the longevity record, which is a nice record to have, but it’s painfully obvious.
