8 WWE Storylines That Must Happen Before 2017

5. The Corruption Of Mick Foley

One of the most interesting developments of the brand split was Raw commissioner Stephanie McMahon's announcement of Mick Foley as her general manager. After all, Foley was the beloved fan-favorite while Stephanie was the Billion Dollar Princess, the authority fans loved to loathe. The dynamic between the two did not seem to make sense on the surface. Upon closer look, though, Foley has very subtly introduced heel elements to his act.

Whether he was accepting of Stephanie's embrace on the night he was introduced or hamming it up with the woman that once tormented him during the WWE Draft episode of SmackDown, Foley has grown close to Stephanie. It is an element on their partnership that could very well see the downfall of the noble and honorable Hardcore Legend as we know him.

Imagine a Foley corrupted by Stephanie, his morals degraded by association alone. A hero of yesteryear, he owes his megalomaniac boss for his one last flirtation with stardom in WWE's exciting New Era and will allow her influence, and his opportunity, to change him.

It makes for a fresh story involving authority figures and allows Foley to be the heel persona he has proven so adept at portraying over the course of his iconic career.
