9 Card Predictions For IMPACT Wrestling Slammiversary 2021
6. W. Morrissey Vs. SANADA
Could it happen? Yes. Will it happen? Perhaps not, but this article is all about dreams.
Since debuting at Rebellion, W. Morrissey has been positioned as a top-level star. His impressive debut bout at the aforementioned pay-per-view made him look like a complete beast, while his AXS TV debut saw him easily annihilate Sam Beale. In a matter of weeks, the former Big Cass already looks more impressive in IMPACT than he ever did in WWE.
In order for this to make sense, Morrissey has to go on an undefeated streak leading up to the pay-per-view. Mixed victories over both high-calibre IMPACT talent and lower-ranked stars is what the guy needs to challenge a New Japan talent.
SANADA shouldn't be announced ahead of Slammiversary, but rather the mere mention of an NJPW star coming into IMPACT to challenge Morrissey will suffice. The Los Ingobernables de Japon man was featured in the Slammiversary trailer, having previously been a full-time member of the IMPACT roster to the point that he was X Division Champion. He's come on leaps and bounds in the years since, of course.
It's crucial that he comes close to beating Morrissey, but doesn't. His booking has been consistently great thus far; no need to to sacrifice that for a potential one-off return.
