9 Next WWE Steps For Randy Orton
4. Randy Orton Vs. Dean Ambrose
Another potential main event program for SmackDown, and one that would still have plenty of legs in it, is Randy Orton vs. Dean Ambrose.
Over the years, Orton and Ambrose have actually only squared off in singles competition on four separate occasions; a one-off meeting back in May 2013, before a hat-trick of contests in the summer of 2014 when Ambrose was feuding with the Authority.
So with their last encounter coming more than two years ago, that makes this one of the fresher rivalries still be tapped into at the top of the SmackDown card.
Plus, you get the feeling that Orton vs. Ambrose would have a rather more intriguing dynamic than the majority of WWE rivalries. Both men are arguably best-suited to tweener-type roles, or at least being good guys with an edgier, more attitudinal streak.
Putting those two combustible elements together could result in some pretty great viewing, making it another viable step for Orton to pursue at some point down the line.
