9 WWE WrestleMania 37 - Night 1 Impulse Reactions

2. Bad Bunny & Damian Priest Vs. The Miz & John Morrison

WWE got just about all of this spot on.

Bad Bunny's Royal Rumble appearance looked every bit like a one-shot deal thanks to the inclusion of Booker T in one of his songs. That longer conversations had obviously happened only looked shrewder when he brought with him a sizeable amount of mainstream attention between January and April.

Bad Bunny wasn't f*cking around. Far from it - his integrity was questioned, so he started the match and outwrestled the A-Lister with some impressively-disguised offence and some quality punches. He then took the beating too, affording Damian Priest a major hot tag and yet another high spot for the non-wrestler. He was at the centre of everything, making a pinfall just seconds later before flattening John Morrison with a Canadian Destroyer on the arena floor.

All of this was enough to shock the sh*t out of Miz and set him up for an easy defeat. On a night full of them, this was one of the biggest over-deliveries.

The whole thing was an unqualified success story - Damian Priest's NXT promotion couldn't have gone better, Miz and Morrison proved perfect foil (and the perfect choices for carrying a match like this), and Bad Bunny really really did the work.
