WWE NXT has got itself a new head writer.

With previous incumbent Ryan Word moving up (a questionable word) to focus more and more on writing for Monday Night RAW and SmackDown, NXT was in need of a new writer and one such individual has been found. His name is Joe Belcastro, and this is his story.

A longtime wrestling fan, Belcastro has kept himself busy since graduating from college in 2008 by writing movie reviews online and working for the Tampa Tribune, ironically a publication under the umbrella of the organisation that broke news of Adam Rose's arrest yesterday. Belcastro initially applied for a job with WWE directly out of college in 2008, but was turned down.

Proving further that wrestling is about who you know, a friend working for WWE got Belcastro an interview once again in 2013, and this time he was successful. WWE hired the man, despite the fact he had zero experience of writing a TV script before. Three years have since passed, and Joe Belcastro is now the man working directly under Triple H attempting to make Elias Sampson relevant.

Reports suggest that Belcastro has also been working with Hunter on the upcoming Global Cruiserweight Series, which begins next month.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
