Best And Worst WWE Title Reigns Of 2017 (So Far)

3. Brock Lesnar (WWE Universal Champion)

You might think we cannot truly judge a title reign without seeing at least one title defence. But in true Brock Lesnar fashion, his Universal Championship win at WrestleMania 33 saw him and Raw's top prize vanish back into the Canadian wilderness.

Brock won't be in action until early July. That means he will have been Universal Champion for nearly 100 days before laying the belt on the line. Normally I would preach patience, as Lesnar's limited title run beginning at SummerSlam 2014 was constructed rather well by the WWE, the Royal Rumble Triple Threat match being the standout.

That said, there are serious problems unique to his Universal Title reign. Most pressingly, Raw's viewership has dropped off hugely. Where WWE could fill the gaps in his previous World TItle reign with bonafide stars like John Cena, Raw is having to rely on top competitors with less drawing power.

This is simply not the time for Raw's Universal Champion to be at home on his ranch. Taking away the show's main story device has crippled the WWE creative team, who are having to string out storylines until he returns. Lesnar has a lot of making-up to do in the buildup to Great Balls of Fire.
