4. Elimination Chamber
This show was the swan song of SmackDown Live’s golden era, as it would be their last exclusive PPV before the Superstar Shakeup. Although Elimination Chamber was really a two match show, they were matches worth the admission all their own. Randy Orton and Luke Harper had a spirited one-on-one that showed what Harper was capable of and what Randy can do when he’s motivated, and the EC match, with its new chamber design, was arguably one of the best outings in the match’s history.
Of course, the rest of the show fell flat with a forgettable undercard. While Becky Lynch vs. Mickie James was a fun bout, everything else was either bizarrely booked or completely unremarkable. Of particular mediocrity was Alexa Bliss and Naomi’s sloppy bout for the Women’s Championship, which began Naomi’s reign of terror on SmackDown (incendiary and not-at-all fair rhetoric? You better believe it!)
Still, as stated, Orton/Harper and the Chamber match were great enough to make Elimination Chamber a fun viewing, and it was a nice capstone to what was a terrific run for SmackDown Live.
