Ranking Top 10 WCW Main Eventers In WWE

8. Scott Steiner

The last couple years of WCW were hard to watch. One of the lone bright spots was Scott Steiner breaking out on his own as a main event heel. There was no act in the company more compelling on the microphone than Steiner. While he often stumbled over his words, and didn't make a lot of sense, he was flat out scary. Very few people in the business felt more real than he did. He was one of the few WCW guys you could picture in top programs with The Rock and Steve Austin if he would have jumped sooner.

Once he did go to WWE in 2002, though, it wasn't all that exciting. Steiner had a history of serious foot injuries, but the problem seemed to get much worse during his time off. His speed was gone, and he was largely immobile. Besides the limited mobility hurting his perception, WWE made the boneheaded move of booking him as a babyface in a feud with Triple H. The Big Bad Booty Daddy simply worked far better as a heel. Did anyone in WWE even watch WCW during those last couple years?

The matches with Hunter were atrocious, some of the worst of the era. Unless you're a fan of belly-to-belly suplexes, then they were all-time classics. Steiner was on the losing side of the feud, and did eventually turn, but it was too late. He settled into the mid-card in an uninspiring team with Test, then quietly left the company during another injury. It was an almost two year run that was a major disappointment. These days, he's now allowed anywhere near a WWE building due to his alleged threats made about Hulk Hogan.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
