Real Reason CM Punk Missed Last Night's WWE Raw Revealed (WWE News)
Reigning World Heavyweight Champ CM Punk skipped this week's episode of Raw. Here's why!
PWInsider Elite reports that CM Punk had a very good reason for missing Monday's episode of flagship WWE show Raw. The reigning World Heavyweight Champion, who won the (then vacant) belt by defeating Jey Uso back at Saturday Night's Main Event on 1 November, is currently filming scenes for new Netflix movie The Bodyguard.
Punk will play the role of Doghouse, who's described as a "physically intimidating member of the security detail, who is known for his loyalty and humour". The flick is based on a 2022 novel and sits snugly in the rom com genre - if there's sarcasm and some whimsical comedy, then it'll suit CM down to the ground. He's no stranger to getting sarky over the mic on WWE's watch!
It's interesting that Triple H has let one of his reigning World Champs dash off to do something else whilst currently holding the strap. Punk is one of Raw's main stars, but he doesn't really have much going on due to all of the hype surrounding John Cena's impending retirement on the 13 December version of SNME.
WWE's creative team will pick up the pace on Punk's storytelling once that show is in the rear view mirror. By then, they'll be able to focus on the final few weeks of 2025 before diving head first into the usual Royal Rumble-WrestleMania excitement. Fans will expect to see Punk in a major program at both of those events between January-April.
For now, he's on camera elsewhere, and there's no word on exactly how long his filming commitments will take.
