It's news we've all been expecting for some time: Rey Mysterio has finally signed a new deal with WWE.

Mike Jonhson, reporting for PW Insider, confirmed the lucha libre legend has signed a two year contract with the company, after originally angling for an 18-month stint. Supposedly, a clause has been inserted into the new deal that'll allow Mysterio to hand in his notice after a year and a half elapses.

Mysterio's last appearance for the company came at April's Greatest Royal Rumble, where he was one of fifty men in the Saudi Arabian jaunt's showpiece contest. He made a similar cameo at the actual Royal Rumble back in January, looking in absolutely tremendous shape. A match opposite John Cena was slated for WrestleMania, though a torn biceps ultimately ruled him out of contention. Instead, the nod went to The Undertaker.

As one of the biggest stars of a bygone era, one can almost certainly expect Rey to feature heavily as part of WWE's next trip to the Middle East, the wonderfully titled Crown Jewel. Apparently, Rey's all ready to go for his new employers, and is just waiting on creative working him into their plans.

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
