Seth Rollins' 9 WWE Title Defences - From Worst To Best

7. Sting - Night Of Champions

After an incredible United States Championship match against John Cena (which Rollins unfortunately, but understandably, lost), the WWE World Heavyweight Champion was forced to immediately face Sting with his one remaining title on the line. Pitted against a much older opponent, Rollins did a fantastic job of really selling Sting's moves and managed to get a mostly decent match out of the ageing veteran. Of course, things went horribly wrong when Sting collapsed in the middle of the match after a freak accident which occurred following Rollins' trademark Powerbomb into the corner. Of course, you have to hand it to the defending champion for working that into the story being told and killing time by antagonising the crowd while a referee and doctor checked that Sting was able to continue. The match may have had something of a messy ending due to the chaos that resulted in, but Rollins turning the Scorpion Deathlock into a roll up was a solid way to bring it to a close. While not technically part of the match itself, Sheamus' attempted cash-in and Kane's surprise return added a lot to this one, so even though the bout between Rollins and Sting may not have been as good as what we're used to seeing from the former, it was at least an entertaining and memorable main event which saw the WWE World Heavyweight Champion honoured by being only Sting's second opponent in the WWE.
