Cody Rhodes caught attention for a number of reasons on last night's episode of WWE Raw, which saw him defeat The Miz en route to being issued a WrestleMania Backlash 2022 challenge by Seth Rollins, whom the recent returnee defeated at WrestleMania 38.

One of these reasons was Rhodes' use of verbiage typically banned by WWE in his promo segment.

Cody was Miz's guest on MizTV at the top of Raw. The segment served to act as an appetiser for their match later on and saw Rhodes use a couple of words that the promotion doesn't usually allow, those being "belt" and "wrestlers."

Per Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, this promo, much like the one Rhodes cut the previous week, was scripted. WWE writers therefore had Cody use these words to push his gimmick as "the guy that gets to say things that nobody else gets to say." Essentially, Rhodes is playing his AEW self.

Miz corrected Cody for his use of "belt" when referencing the Undisputed WWE World Championship, calling it a "title." Rhodes then went on to use "wrestlers" where WWE performers would typically say "Superstar."
