WWE: 10 Best Jumps From The Top Of A Steel Cage

9. Rikishi vs Val Venis - Fully Loaded, 7/23/2000

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGk1N5hB2HA This was a match for Val Venis' Intercontinental Championship, and was made personal when Venis attacked Rikishi's friend Scott Taylor, throwing him off the stage onto the ground below. Val had moved away from his porn star character and was now managed by Trish Stratus, utilizing new moves and displaying a new straight forward attitude. Rikishi was a huge hit with the fans, who liked his different look and the fact that he would dance before and after most matches. The match itself is not a classic, and featured a lot of back and forth brawling between the two. They were not technical wrestlers in the ring, but they were able to put on a decent fight, using the cage as a weapon at times. Trish was on the outside and was giving instruction to Val the whole match, up until Lita ran out and attacked her most hated rival, whipping her with a belt as they went up the stage and out of the arena. Now it was just Val and the big 420+ pound Rikishi in the ring. During the distraction, Venis started to make his way up the steel wall, but was caught by Rikishi and sent falling backwards to the mat after having his face rammed into the cage several times. Venis took the ref out with him when he fell, and both men lay crumpled in the ring. Rikishi saw his opportunity and started climbing to the top of the cage, with Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler predicting victory for the large Samoan. But Rikishi didn't come down on the outside of the ring. With the crowd whipped into a frenzy at the site of the big man perched on the top of the cage, Rikishi looked out to them and squared himself up with Venis. He looked down, and without hesitation, leaped off, sending his massive body crashing down onto the prone Val Venis. The crowd popped huge and Lawler screamed with surprise. It was nothing anyone had seen before. Venis would go on to win the match after interference from Tazz, but the sight of the usually ground based Rikishi flying off the top of the cage onto his opponent's body 10 feet below was something we hadn't seen before, and might not again.
