WWE: 11 Top Stars Who Quit Over Creative Decisions

7. Pat Paterson Clashes With Triple H In 2004

In 2004 Triple H was gaining more and more power in the WWE. His marriage with Stephanie McMahon and ever tightening friendship with Vince McMahon had seen him given considerable creative sway in the company. The result was that Hunter enjoyed consistent top booking on the show, arguably being to blame for WWE's failures in maintaining interest for Booker T, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Bill Goldberg or Randy Orton. One man who dared to speak up about this was veteran creative team member Pat Paterson. As a close friend of Vince and being a WWF employee of 20 years, Pat might have expected to be heard out on the matter. The well liked producer told Vince that Hunter was over pushed and to blame for Raw's worsening ratings. The comments were unwelcome, and on October 5th 2004 Paterson decided that he had no choice but to leave the WWE over the creative differences. It spoke measures of Hunter's power and influence that Vince's most trusted advisor was the loser in all of this. However, Paterson did end up back with the company just a short while later.
