WWE: 12 Matches That Were Booked All Wrong

9. Triple H Vs CM Punk - Night Of Champions 2011

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1HsVoZsDvg Oh dear, here he is again. In 2011 Triple H was now firmly established in the WWE creative process. After Vince he is arguably the most powerful man in WWE. What was also happening in 2011 was the emergence of a genuine WWE main eventer. CM Punk had propelled himself to superstardom with the best WWE promo perhaps ever and the best WWE match since Shawn vs Taker in 2010. So what did WWE do? They booked the full time new star to lose to part timer Triple H in a match at Night Of Champions of course! The booking here was terrible. Punk was the most exciting thing to happen in WWE for years, so why have him lose to a part time act who didn't need the win? The answer is, Hunter couldn't resist implicating himself in this sudden burst of limelight for the WWE. The Game booked himself in a match and booked himself as the winner. It made zero sense. The story was further confused with the involvement of Kevin Nash and disputed text messages. That's how bad the booking was, WWE were actually writing stories about text messaging. Under different circumstances, Hunter vs Punk could have been great. If The Game had allowed himself to play the heel boss role vs Punk's anti authority character it would have been a great match. It could have been Austin vs McMahon for a new generation. But instead we got two characters who were neither face or heel, and the more irrelevant of the two won. Terrible.
