WWE: 8 Shocking Developments Since WrestleMania 30

2. Orton And Batista Chase The Shield, Not The Gold

If you were the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and lost your title at the biggest show of the year without being pinned, would you invoke your rematch clause, or team up with two former cohorts to fight a tangentially related battle? If you won the Royal Rumble and had a guaranteed title match that was later turned into a triple threat match, wouldn€™t you push to get a one-on-one title shot as soon as possible? Or would you side with two former running buddies and forget about the belt that you previously said was the only reason you came back to WWE? Evolution reforming to fight the Shield makes sense in some ways: Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns saved Daniel Bryan from a beatdown and quickly became marked men. But watching Orton and Batista basically ignore the belt they both supposedly covet so much is just jaw-droppingly stupid. The €œwe need to eliminate the Shield before we can go back to chasing the title€ theme doesn€™t hold water. From a Booking 101 standpoint, Orton and Batista are ready-made challengers for Bryan for at least the next PPV or two. Right now, there€™s no one hotter than Bryan, and he needs top challengers and strong feuds to give business a shot in the arm. Evolution could have been reformed, but they should have targeted the title first, branching off to the Shield after they€™ve bailed out Bryan a few times during his defenses. At least make it look like you care about the title.

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
